1960 Austin-Healey 3000 MKI BT7
This Healey, affectionately known as “The Bloody Beast,” was the first car I ever owned. I purchased it in 1971 while in college. After driving it for a few years it wound up in storage until 2002 when I decided to complete a total restoration with numerous modifications for safety and comfort.
The engine machine work, the bodywork, paint and upholstery were done by professionals. I did all of the assembly and electrical work. Shortly after completing the restoration I drove the car across the United States and back (total distance of over 8,000 miles).
The Bloody Beast is no trailer queen, although I only average a few thousand miles a year now. I have owned my Healey for 42 years and am proud to say that Donald Healey signed the title and the driver’s manual before his death in 1988.
