Classic MGB’s For Sale

The Classic MGB stands for Classic British sports car. Launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA it was an instant success. The early chrome bumper models are the most sought after and command much higher prices but the driving experience is also older in comparison to the later rubber bumper ones.

From a personal point my fFather had a very nice black late 70’s MGB and although it was near mint when he bought it he had all the work done to finish it off to perfect standard. I have very fond memories of this car and the overriding one is feeling like we were going 100 MPH when in fact we were likely doing about 30! This is down to the low seating position and on this car the stainless sports exhaust.

This is one of the main advantages of driving a classic car, you get all the thrill and sounds at much lower speeds than modern cars so your licence has more chance of staying in one piece.

There is a sad end to my Fathers MGB, he sold it to my younger brother who left it parked outdoors all year round and then moved to America. The car literally disintegrated where it stood. It is now back in my Fathers garage but the cost of rebuilding it is far higher than the car would be worth so it’s fate remains unknown. The moral is keep them tucked away in a garage at night and look after them or yours might go the same way.

We have found some examples below of what is available at the moment and what you would expect to pay. Good hunting and happy motoring.

1970 MGB Roadster £9995

For sale here we have this lovely example of a chrome bumper MGB Roadster finished in dark navy Blue with Black trim.
First registered on the first of August 1970, this lovely MGB comes with factory chrome bumpers and wire wheels.
On the outside the car has a very classic look in its fetching navy blue, set off by very good or new chrome throughout, the painted wire wheels and chrome two eared spinners only adding to the classic MGB look. The paintwork is very good throughout and you can see from the photos how straight the body is, with very good panel gaps following extensive restoration some years ago. This continues on to the detailed engine bay and boot area, which are very clean and nice to see in such good order. There is also a new vinyl hood and new tyres have recently been fitted.

On the inside, the car has it original seats and door panels which are in excellent condition, as well as extremely well fitted new carpets and restored dashboard featuring the original factory steering wheel.
Driving the car is a pleasure, the engine is smooth and quiet, and pulls extremely well, with the exhaust exiting through a stainless system. The gearbox is equally nice and benefits from factory (working!) overdrive, whilst all the brakes, shocks, bushes etc have been renewed giving the car a very nice taught “new” feel to it, and I have also recently fitted a complete new clutch, so no concerns there either.

Other notable points include the rare one year only grill, original handbook and also a nice fitting colour-matched hardtop.

In summary this is a lovely usable, very classic looking MGB, with excellent rust free bodywork, very good paint, lovely original interior, new hood and matching hardtop, which drives superbly that I would happily get in and go anywhere. Its also comes complete with free road tax and MOT until June 2014

The MGB is available to view evenings and weekends, and is kept in a warm well lit garage, so don’t be afraid to come and have a look, you wont be disappointed.
